Fun for all at Merebank Secondary School

The learners of Merebank Secondary School engaged in a fun run and other games while enjoying a variety of treats at the school's fun day.

MEREBANK Secondary School was abuzz with excitement and a sense of community as it played host to a fun day on April 26.

The aim was to bring learners together and raise funds for school projects.

The day kicked off with a spirited fun run around Merebank’s streets, with learners showcasing their athleticism and enthusiasm. Principal Kishan Bridgelal set the tone for the day with an inspiring address upon their return.

A bustling marketplace awaited attendees, featuring stalls curated by Grade 12 learners and locals. From delicious food to games and trinkets, there was something for everyone.

A highlight was the homecoming of Lavanya Levida Govender, recently crowned Miss Teenager Universe South Africa 2024. Lavanya, representing South Africa internationally, was warmly welcomed back to her alma mater. The school choir serenaded her as she planted a tree that symbolises a commitment to a sustainable future.

The traditional choir member’s Sandiswa Myeza, Sbahle Muthwa, Miss Zungu,Silondiwe Muthwa and Syamthanda Mazongolo assume positions.

The celebration continued with captivating performances by learners showcasing their talents. Teacher Harsha Juggernath expressed delight at the event’s success, originally planned as a simple fundraiser but expanded to include learners.

Due to its overwhelming success, the fun day is set to become a recurring event, a testament to the school’s vibrant spirit and sense of community.
