Inter-school tournament showcases spectacular goals
St Mary's Primary School claimed victory in the U11 division while Alipore Primary School scooped the win in the U13 division.
THE fields of St Mary’s Primary School in Merebank set the stage for an exhilarating round-robin soccer tournament on May 10, where competition blended seamlessly with camaraderie among young athletes from five local schools.

Roshan Ramdheen, a member of the Merebank Sports Council, shared his thoughts on the event, describing the electric atmosphere as teams from St Mary’s Primary, Alipore Primary, Junagarth Primary, Nizam Road Primary and Settlers Primary showcased their skills and sportsmanship.
In the U11 division, St Mary’s Primary emerged as champions, demonstrating skilful dribbling, precise passes and unwavering determination. Ramdheen noted the palpable pride of the St Mary’s coach as they celebrated their well-deserved victory. Their success extended to the U13 division, where they secured the runner-up position.
Ramdheen also highlighted the impressive performance of Alipore Primary School, particularly their U13 team, which claimed the title in their age category. He observed the beaming smiles of the Alipore players, reflecting their hard work and commitment.
Thanks to the Krishna Rabilal Foundation, every participant received a medal, serving as a tangible reminder of their effort and dedication. The winning schools, St Mary’s Primary and Alipore Primary, were honoured with gleaming trophies symbolising their victories.
