Jyothi Chandra, teacher at the school, said the event called on learners to dress as any professional they wanted to become like a doctor, firefighter, teacher, artist or any other job they could imagine.

“Each learner shared their dream job and participated in performances and role-playing activities that illustrated what those careers would entail,” said Chandra.

The day included guest speakers ranging from nurses, an actress, real estate agents, an author and paramedics, to make the aspirations of the learners a little more within reach.

“Hosting a career day is important; it helps inspire learners and exposes them to various paths from an early age. This makes the idea of future careers obtainable and inviting, stating their aspirations while building confidence as they network with real professionals,” she said.

Chandra added that many of the learners were quite interested by the paramedics, who showed them how an ambulance operates. The learners were allowed to get a good view of rescue equipment and understand exactly how each piece of equipment lends itself to saving lives during an emergency. The actress spoke to those interested in the arts about her progression through the industry, while real estate agents talked about buying and selling homes. The writer explained the creative world behind storytelling.

In hindsight, Chandra said the event was well executed in terms of educating the learners. “They were thrilled to dress up and perform, sharing their dream careers with enthusiasm and pride. The speakers engagingly made their presentations fun and interactive. It was a delightful, educational and inspiring day,” she added.

The career day at Super Star’s Educare was targeted at expanding the minds of the learners so that they may dream big.
