Police confiscate fake goods valued over R1m in Clairwood

The counterfeit goods were seized during a police operation conducted by the Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit in Clairwood.

THE police are continuing with their search for suspects potentially linked to the recent discovery of counterfeit goods in Clairwood, valued at over R1m.
Hawks members from the Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit, armed with a search warrant, were conducting an inspection at Clairwood Park when the fake goods were recovered.
Hawks spokesperson, Warrant Officer Sibu Ncane, said the police found a container depot (a storage area where shipping containers are stored) which stored over 800 counterfeit Sony PlayStation Dualshock controllers.
Ncane said the investigation began when the police, working on the border, intercepted and inspected a container in November last year, following which samples were withdrawn for further analysis.
“It was confirmed by the brand attorneys that 891 Sony Dualshock controllers were counterfeit.
“No arrest has been made at this stage, but the investigation continues,” said Ncane.
