“The members of Wentworth Visible Policing (Vispol) Crime Prevention B group together with B Shift had received information from informants of a man who was on his way to deliver drugs to a known drug den.

“The police immediately placed themselves along the strategic points, along different routes that could be assessed to get to the drug den. The members held their observations focusing on the vehicle that the suspect was traveling in,” said Gumede.

The police spotted the suspect’s vehicle and signalled it to stop. Following a search of the vehicle officers found a packet containing drugs.

“The suspect was placed under arrest, and transported to the Wentworth police station where he was charged with possession of drugs.

“The vehicle used to transport the drugs was also seized and is being held as evidence in the commission of a crime,” said Gumede.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

The Station Commander Colonel Sinayo Mtshali and Vispol Commander Lieutenant Colonel Clive Myburg commended the members for their swift reaction in arresting the suspect.
