Ncamisile Gumede, Ayanda’s mother, was overjoyed and filled with pride for her daughter’s achievements. “Watching her perform on that stage and watching her hard work and passion pay off, made me so emotional. She’s becoming this little confident girl and that’s the best reward I could ever ask for from God. She’s truly my pride and joy,” she said.

Ayanda began competing in pageants since she was five years old, and for her mother, the experience has been empowering. “The journey has been amazing for her. She has grown with so much confidence, made new friends and learnt how to express herself with grace and pride,” said Ncamisile.

The young beauty pageant contestant is now shifting her eyes towards nationals, with hopes of taking part in international competitions in the future. But the family has been met with financial hurdles. Ncamisile said they are appealing for sponsorships to help fund transport, accommodation and registration costs.

“We are very thankful to the organisers of Miss 21st Century for allowing Ayanda this opportunity. Also, a big thank you to all those who have supported Ayanda’s journey,” said Ncamisilie.
