THE eThekwini Municipality is taking decisive steps to strengthen infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and safeguard vulnerable communities through a series of Council-approved initiatives. This emerged at the recent council decision meeting held in Durban.
Council has noted the intention to amend the Bluff Library lease contract in terms of Section 116(3) of the Municipal Finance Management Act. In a statement, eThekwini municipality said the current premises meets the operational needs of the library and District 6 Support Office in terms of location, accessibility, and infrastructure.
“No suitable municipal-owned facility is available in the vicinity, and relocation would disrupt service delivery and incur unbudgeted costs. The amendment ensures continuity of services and equitable access to library resources for the surrounding community,” eThekwini said in a statement.
The library provides the following services and functions:
- Lending of books
- Offering internet access to the visitors
- Provides facilities for community use
