Buldana Road residents unite for fun day

The Buldana Road residents continued their fairly new tradition of a community gathering, inviting old and new residents for a day of fun.

IN an attempt to foster stronger communal bonds, residents of Buldana Road gathered for a day of fun, marking the second year of a new tradition. Residents united for a much-needed day of remembrance, reconnection and celebration.

Long-time families and friends reunited over a warm meal, with laughter and memories, recalling the “good old days”.

A touching tribute was paid to Buldana Road’s forefathers and foremothers, the men and women whose labour and sacrifice laid the groundwork for the generations to follow. The attendees were filled with gratitude for their battle against adversity and how their toughness and generosity raised the successful community that stands today.

Darryl Emanuel Govender, one of the organisers, said as the past was recalled and stirring speeches were delivered, residents were reminded where they came from.

“When it began to drizzle while the event went on, we considered it a blessing sign to show us there is hope and renewal in the future for us,” said Govender.

A special vote of thanks went out to the Sagie Naidoo and his family for their tireless efforts in planning the event and to everyone who had a part in its success. Many people had travelled from out of the province to catch up with friends and be a part of the special day, and this helped make the day much more memorable.
