Police tackle gang-related incidents in Wentworth
Police recovered drugs and a firearm during an intelligence-driven operation in Hime Street in Wentworth. One person was arrested.
A JOINT intelligence operation between various police units resulted in the arrest of an alleged drug kingpin in Hime Street, Wentworth on October 30. The name of the suspect has not been released until he appears in court.

According to a statement from Durban Metro Police, two search warrants were executed at identified targets during the operation.
In a statement, police said the arrested individual is a prominent figure in gang and drug operations in Hime Street.

Spokesperson for metro police, Colonel Boysie Zungu said:
“This successful multi-agency operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to dismantling drug and gang networks that continue to destabilise our communities.
“The collaboration between our specialised units and provincial law enforcement partners sends a clear message that gang violence and drug trafficking will not be tolerated in eThekwini.”
Police confiscated a large quantity of narcotics and a firearm.
- Pure and powdered cocaine
- Miracle powder
- Crack cocaine (block and pieces)
- A firearm with magazines and live rounds
- Weighing scales
The recovered items are worth an estimated street value of R50 000.
