Winnie Mkhize, manager of the home, said the bus initially broke down in September 2025 and has since needed serious fixing.
“The bus is really old and falling apart. It’s rusty, and when it rains, the water gets in and messes up the engine control unit,” said Mkhize.
She added that bus is very important for the residents as many of them use wheelchairs and they are transported to medical facilities, educational institutes, trainings, and excursions.
“This bus is not just a nice thing to have, it is necessary for them to live a good life,” said Mkhize.
To support
The home is calling on local businesses, groups and people to help buy a new bus or pay to fix the old one. If you would like to help or need more details, contact Dana Govender on 071 164 9388 or Winnie Mkhize on 031 468 1667 or 079 341 6435.
