Arcadia Retirement Village calls on community’s help

The retirement village has been left with minimal chairs in their hall, insufficient for all residents to sit during events or meetings.

THE Arcadia Retirement Village is issuing a public appeal for donations of chairs, as they do not have enough to accommodate all residents in its hall. The hall is used for formal meetings and social events.

Dawn Solomon, chairperson of Arcadia Retirement Village’s entertainment committee, said that the retirement village had recently acquired a quantity of chairs with the expectation of enhancing the seating arrangements. However, these chairs were actually of poor quality, frequently breaking or cracking when residents used them.

“The shop declined to accept the return of the chairs, due to our prior action of marking them with the Arcadia symbol as a precaution against theft,” said Solomon.

The lack of sufficient seating is of notable concern for the facility, especially during communal gatherings, scheduled meetings and social events.

Solomon is now calling on the community for assistance in acquiring new chairs.

Donate to the fête

In addition, Arcadia Retirement Village is also calling on the community to support its fête on July 4 from 09:00 – 13:00.

Solomon is encouraging residents to contribute previously owned items suitable for sale at the fête. These can include clothes, household items, jewellery and other miscellaneous goods.
