Police raise awareness on GBV and bullying
Educating learners about the impact of bullying can help create safer, more respectful and supportive school environments.
IN a show of unity against Gender-Based Violence, Montclair police in partnership with a trauma nurse, Phume Kunene, visited St Raphael School recently to raise awareness on bullying and matters relating to gender-based violence.
Police spokesperson in Montclair Constable Norah Ndlovu said the event aimed to educate the children about the importance of reporting bullying and GBV to their teachers and parents.

“The visit also sought to raise awareness on how communities and victims can report violations and access the necessary assistance. The session focused not only on physical wellness, but also on promoting healing as a critical component of long-term solutions to gender-based violence,” said Ndlovu.
She added that such programmes are ongoing in many schools in the south of Durban and form part of the fight against GBV and bullying at schools.
“The intention is to enlighten the young people about the consequences of bullying. We believe that prevention is better than cure, and by educating learners about the impact of bullying we can help create safer, more respectful and supportive school environments,” she added.
