Recycling programme launched at Montclair special school

The initiative brought together various municipal departments and organisations to encourage sustainable recycling habits among learners.

VARIOUS municipal departments launched a recycling programme at Ningizimu Special School in Montclair on July 31.

The aim of the programme was to elect an enviro committee at the school that will work with the teachers in the recycling programme.

The elected committee members will lead the recycling programme to ensure that the school participates in all the initiatives.

During the launch, education officer at Durban Solid Waste(DSW), Emalda Mkhulisi, taught learners about the importance of keeping the environment clean and the purpose of the recycling programme.

Guest speakers from various municipal departments also urged learners to take it upon themselves to recycle unwanted items and ensure that the environment at the school is spotless.

Health Department
Durban Solid Waste
The Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa
Metpac-SA
Park and recreation unit
Dolly Rod (recycling organisation)
