Free rabies vaccinations coming to Ward 64

The KZN Department of Agriculture's state veterinary services will once again administer free rabies vaccinations for pets in ward 64.

THE KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will bring its rabies vaccination drive to Ward 64 from September 1-3.

The veterinary teams will visit several locations across the ward including Woodlands, Montclair, Woodhaven and Yellowwood Park.

Queen Duma, a departmental animal health technician under the Department of Agriculture’s Veterinary Services Directorate, stressed the importance of getting household pets vaccinated against rabies.

“Rabies is a fatal disease, but one that can be prevented through the regular vaccination of pets,” said Duma.

The campaign schedule

September 1 (Woodlands and Montclair)

  • 09:00–10:30: Open space at the corner of Glanville and Horace Road
  • 11:00–12:00: Nagel Square, opposite Woodlands Pharmacy
  • 12:30–13:30: Playlot in Bale Avenue

September 2 (Montclair)

  • 09:00–10:30: Open space on Anleno Road, next to Mowat Park High School
  • 11:00–12:00: Park in Donovan Road
  • 12:30–13:30: Parking lot on 191 Wood Road

September 3 (Woodhaven and Yellowwood Park)

  • 09:00–10:30: Playlot in Linnet Road, next to house number 54
  • 11:00–12:00: Yellowwood Park civic centre grounds

Residents requiring more information can contact the eThekwini State Veterinary Office on 031 328 9300 or the Environmental Health Office on 031 311 1000.
