Class of 2023 celebrate NSC results [Pictures]

The Matric Class of 2023 from various schools in the south of Durban was overjoyed with their results as they collected their certificates.

THE 2023 matric results are officially out, and many of the students couldn’t contain their excitement. The matriculants have a lot to celebrate after the class of 2023 achieved the highest pass rate in National Senior Certificate (NSC) history. The record-breaking class achieved a pass rate of 82.9%, which is an increase of 2.8% from the previous year’s pass rate.

Bluff Christian Academy achieved a 100% pass rate during the 2023 NSC examinations. One of the school’s top learners and Head Girl for 2023, Thandolwethu Kleinbooi, achieved a Bachelor’s Pass.

Kleinbooi said, “This moment is bittersweet, knowing that this journey is coming to an end.”

Principal Benjamin Mpangase said, “I am extremely proud of this class for obtaining a 100% pass rate, which is no easy feat – they worked hard, and in the end, it paid off.”

Durban Academy High School’s Thula Zungu stands with the school’s top achiever, Nosipho Msomi.

Durban Academy High School achieved a 99% pass rate, which is an increase of 1.9% from the previous year. Nosipho Msomi was the top achiever at Durban Academy High School, achieving a Bachelor’s Pass and seven distinctions. “I was in utter disbelief. Leading up to the exams and the results, I experienced a lot of anxiety,” said Msomi. She has already earned a spot to study medicine at the University of Cape Town.

Thamahle Kweyama from Mowat Park High School was one of the top achievers in the school with six distinctions.

Mowat Park High School achieved a 91.7% pass rate, which is an increase of 1.7%. The school continues to grow in leaps and bounds. One of the school’s top-performing learners, Thamahle Kweyama, obtained a Bachelor’s pass with six distinctions. Kweyama said she has a passion for health sciences and wishes to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
