ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS
(EIR AND SCOPING) 002/26-27/E0064 Notice is hereby given of an Environmental Impact Assessment Process to be conducted. This process will be undertaken in terms of Section 24(M) and 44 made under section 24(5) of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) (Amended Regulations promulgated on 07 April 2017). The proposed project is classified as, and will be conducted – in terms of Government Notice No. R.326 of 2017 (Government Notice No. R.327 Listing Notice 1; Activity No. 12, 19 and 28, (Government Notice No. R.325 Listing Notice 2; Activity No. 15), and (Government Notice No. R.324 Listing Notice 3; Activity No. 14(ii)(c)(iv)). This advertisement complies with the instructions regarding such notices, National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998, as amended) (Amended Regulations promulgated on 17 April 2017) (Government Notice No. R.326 of 2017) (Regulation 41(2)(a);(3)(a&b) and (4)(a&b)). The competent authority is the Gauteng Province: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. A Water Use Licence Application will also be submitted to the Department of Water and Sanitation in terms of Section 21 of the National Water Act (NWA), 1998 (Act No. 36 of 1998).

PROJECT NAME: Environmental Impact Assessment Process for the proposed clearance of 246.9ha of indigenous vegetation in order to establish a mixed residential township development on Portion 4 of the Farm Leeuwkop 299 and Portion 7 of the Farm Leeuwkop 299-IR, Lesedi Local Municipality, Gauteng Province. The site is 402.47 hectares in extent and has historically been used for agricultural purposes, including cultivation and livestock grazing.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The proposed development forms part of the planned expansion of the Impumelelo residential area and has been identified by the Department of Local Government and Human Settlements for future residential and associated community development. The proposed township will comprise residential erven one and two, mixed use erven, together with business erven, institutional erven, educational erven, industrial erven, a sports stadium and public open space components supported by the necessary municipal infrastructure. Existing engineering services within the greater Impumelelo and Devon area will be upgraded and extended to accommodate the proposed development. CLIENT:
