CS 26/2026 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR A PERSON/S TO BE APPOINTED AS A MEMBER/S TO THE NEWCASTLE MUNICIPAL PLANNING TRIBUNAL CLOSING DATE: 24 JULY 2026 NEWCASTLE MUNICIPALITY NOTICE NO. CS 26/2026 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR A PERSON/S TO BE APPOINTED AS A MEMBER/S TO THE NEWCASTLE MUNICIPAL PLANNING TRIBUNAL CLOSING DATE: 24 JULY 2026 The Newcastle Municipality is processing Land Use and Development Applications in terms of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (no. 16 of 2013). Amongst other directives, this Act requires Municipal Planning Tribunals to have external members to make decisions. Therefore, the Newcastle Local Municipality hereby invites nominations for a member of the public to be appointed to the Newcastle Municipal Planning Tribunal by the Newcastle Municipal Council. Nominees must be persons with leadership qualities and must have knowledge and experience in engineering, spatial planning, land use management and land development or the law related thereto. Each nomination must be in writing and must contain the following information: (a) The name and address of the nominator, who must be a natural person and a person may nominate himself or herself; (b) The name, address and identity number of the nominee; (c) Motivation by the nominator for the appointment of the nominee to the Newcastle Municipal Planning Tribunal (motivation not exceeding one page); (d) A short curriculum vitae of the nominee (not exceeding five pages); Failure to comply with the above may result in the disqualification of the nomination. Nominations must be sent to the Municipal Manager on Private Bag X6621; Newcastle, 2940 for the attention of the Strategic Executive Director: Development Planning and Human Settlements. Canvassing for appointment will automatically disqualify an applicant. The Newcastle Municipality will not take responsibility for information not mentioned in applications. NO late applications will be accepted. NO e-mails or faxes will be accepted. The Newcastle Municipality will not be held responsible for lost applications unless proof of submission can be given. All applicants may be required to undergo a proficiency test. NO applications shall be considered without certified copies of the original documents of qualifications and proof of affiliation into statutory institutions. Reference checks will be done.
