APPLICATION IN TERMS OF THE SPATIAL PLANNING AND LAND USE MANAGEMENT ACT (NO. 16 OF 2013) REGULATIONS AND THE NEWCASTLE MUNICIPALITY SPATIAL PLANNING AND LAND USE MANAGEMENT BYLAWS Notice is hereby given in terms of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA) no. 16 of 2013, Regulations and Schedule 3 of the Newcastle Municipality Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Bylaws, that the Newcastle Municipality is considering an application for the following: 1.Development outside the Newcastle Land Use Scheme for the purposes of a `Mixed Use Development` on Portion 62 (of 1) of the Farm Bosch Hoek No. 3345 (Hill drop), consisting of the following: a) Phase 1A (Hilldrop Apex): Boutique Hotel comprising of 30 rooms covering approximately 7 928,17m2 b) Phase 1B (Hilldrop Point): 250
•Seater Restaurant with a footprint of 2 222,70m2 c) Phase 2B: Aparthotel consisting of 50 Apartments occupying 7 432,84 m2 and d) Phase 2A & 2C: supporting infrastructure including a solar farm with 932 panels and an ancillary building for operations and maintenance. The proposed development is located approximately 3.4 km from the Newcastle Central Business District along Hilldrop Road (D718) with geographic coordinates of the site being Latitude: 27 47` 47.65` S and Longitude: 29 56` 38.10` S. Documentation relating to the above is available for inspection between 07:30 to 16:00, Monday-Friday at the Newcastle Municipality Tower Block, 4th floor, Development Planning and Human Settlements Offices (Town Planning Directorate) located at No. 37 Murchison Street Newcastle CBD, for a period not less than 30 days from 16 July 2026 to 17 August 2026.
