NOTICE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS
Environmental Authorisation Application for the proposed upgrading of Numbi Entrance Gate, within the Kruger National Park, portions 0 of the farm Numbi 32-JU and Mdluli 985-JU, City of Mbombela, Mpumalanga Province
Notice is hereby given, in terms of Section 41 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations of 2014, (as amended in 2017) read with the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) of the following:
SANParks is proposing to upgrade the existing Numbi Entrance Gate to the Kruger National Park. The upgrade will include a new reception building with an administrative office, upgrades to existing buildings, conversion of some structures to storage and ablution facilities, additional parking, and improved traffic flow. These activities will result in the clearance of approximately 5 000 sqm of indigenous vegetation within a NEMPAA, 2003 Protected Area; therefore, Environmental Authorisation is required before the commencement of any upgrading activity. The project area is located on portions 0 of the farm Numbi 32-JU and Mdluli 985-JU, near Pretoriuskop Rest Camp and approximately 15km from Hazyview within the Kruger National Park, (Coordinates: 25 9`18.78″S, 3111`53.00″E).
An Environmental Authorisation Application will be submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) for consideration.
