Top 3 reasons why you should take a road-trip

If you are considering breaking your mundane daily routine with a bit of holiday inspired fun, I strongly suggest taking a road trip around our beautiful country as opposed to a traditional holiday.

Now, we all don’t share the same ideals when it comes to taking that proverbial break. However, I hope I can motivate you to grab all your essentials, gather your family (or mates) and go gallivanting out onto the open road like a giddy goat, so the fresh air  smacks you in the face and messes up your hair – and the beautiful rays of the South African sun can strain your eyes. Whoo hoo! Sounds amazing already right?

Reason number 1 – Cost Effective

Okay, the term ‘cost effective’ doesn’t exactly scream out fun but we have to keep it real, holidays weigh heavily on our finances and we all would enjoy our trip a little more if we knew that we won’t be serving the glistering shards of our piggy bank for supper when we eventually get home. That said, pocket friendly holiday trips are always a plus! Moving on…

Reason 2 – Yes! Moving on indeed

It’s great for ADD, have you ever spent your summer in one place? It gets tired, boring and utterly dissatisfactory and by the 5th day you find yourself feeling homesick and disgusted with your poor wardrobe choices. Mind you, the only time spending your summer in one place is a good idea is when you’ve met a holiday hottie and you’re fueled by the possibility of fanning your ember of love into a roaring fire. Other than that, being able to stop and enjoy the scenery from one place to another is pure joy. Besides you’ll rack up a ton of photos to instagram and ‘checking in’ on Facebook will take on a whole new meaning. Well done! Your friends will be contorting their faces with envy.

Reason 3 – Something for Everyone

So you’ve got Dad whose sole purpose of this entire trip is to annoy you with mind-numbing archaeological facts about the upcoming “historical site” as he so reverently repeats every 15 minutes (complete with exaggerated expression). Mom dearest is bright eyed and positively drooling as she scans through the brochure of affordably priced spa treatments at the local hotel where you guys will be staying. Your little sis finds a new guy to flirt with at every stop, to whom she dedicates a whole diary entry of how it is possible that he is the ‘one’ and last but not least your brother who believes he is Steve Erwin reincarnate.

Oh well, we all have fun when there is something for everyone (yes, that was an intentional play on words and yes, I am well aware of my uber lameness – thank you)

Where ever the road may take you be sure to be safe out there. Adhere to all the road safety guidelines, even the ones you don’t like and continue to promote a positively safe outlook on family road tripping.

Over and out.
