Hikers move from forests to the beach
On Saturday, 31 August, hikers will take on Stockville
DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club’s weekend programme for August:
On Saturday, 24 August, hikers tackle the Hawaan Forest in Umhlanga Rocks.

Meet at the car park opposite Cabana Hotel at 1.45pm. Walk along promenade to Hawaan forest, cross the river (tide permitting) and then back through coastal bush. A shorter hike will be available
On Sunday, 25 August, hikers will negotiate the moderate hike between Umdloti and Umhlanga.

This is an one-way beach walk, and back along the tar. Details are to be confirmed. Please check Facebook and the website.

Meet at the Gillitts Post Office at 1.30pm. Hikers will share transport to the end of Jan Smuts Avenue, Winston Park where the hike starts. They will hike along the escarpment, down into the Stockville Valley and back to Gillitts Post Office. Some members will drive back to the end of Jan Smuts Avenue to retrieve cars. There is no short hike. This is a moderate to strenuous outing.
