THE Wentworth soccer teams locked horns at a recent Premier League tournament.
Park United battled to a 1-1 draw against Ridgeview FC in a hard-fought encounter at Badulla Sports Grounds.

The Wentworth side showed resilience after falling behind, refusing to surrender as they continued to push forward in search of an equaliser.

Both teams looked to establish control early in the match, with Park United maintaining an attacking approach and creating opportunities as they searched for the opening goal.
Ridgeview broke the deadlock, putting Park United under pressure and forcing the Wentworth side to chase the game.

Rather than allowing the setback to affect their confidence, Park United continued to press forward. Their persistence eventually paid off when they found the equaliser, securing a share of the points.
Park United coach Daylin de Bruin praised his players for their determination and character, saying the result reflected the team’s refusal to give up.

“We may not have taken all three points, but I’m proud of the fight and character my players showed. We went behind, but we never lost belief,” said De Bruin.

He said the team remained committed to its attacking style of play despite conceding first.

“We stayed true to our attacking style of play and kept pushing forward and deservedly found our equaliser. A draw is not the end of our journey. Every game teaches us, every challenge makes us stronger and every setback gives us another reason to work harder,” said De Bruin.

He added that the team would continue working towards improving its performances in the matches ahead.

The draw gives Park United an opportunity to build on its fighting performance as the team continues its campaign. For De Bruin, the focus is now on taking lessons from the match and ensuring the players maintain their determination and attacking mentality.

The Wentworth outfit will be hoping to turn draws into victories as the season progresses, with the team looking to convert its attacking efforts into maximum points.

Despite missing out on all three points, Park United’s comeback demonstrated the side’s fighting spirit.
