Kurt is men’s novice singles champ

KURT Spack won the men’s novice singles championship at Bluff Bowling Club at the weekend, when he defeated Harvey Simpkin 21-16 in a closely contested game.
On Thursday morning, the Brian Osman any pairs was played and overall winners on a 4+18 were Ronnie Jackson and Lofty Cawthorne on a count out, with Alex Fisher and Tony Hoggins who had the same shot difference but had more shots against them.
The first session was won by Bob Hayward and Eric Miller on a 2+11 also after a count out with Gary Moffat and Lilah Nel. The second session prize was won by Tony Hoggins and Alex Fisher on a 2+15. The pork raffle was won by Keith Wild while the chicken raffle was won by Johan Nel and the 50/50 board went to Lofty Cawthorne. There were two other club competition matches played this weekend. In the men’s drawn pairs Gary Moffat and Michael Schudel beat Clinton Bisset and Noel Morel. In the men’s nominated pairs Dave Rowe and Allen Ritchie defeated Wayne Tonkin and Roger Scott.
The KZN women’s singles competition took place this weekend and at the time of going to press, Sarie Bisset had won her section and had progressed to the semi-finals. The club will update members on how she fared next week but congrats so far.
The men’s sides for the upcoming league games have been posted and the draw for the nominated mixed pairs has been done, so members are asked to check the notice board for postings. The club also wishes vice president Janice Rogers a speedy recovery after having damaged ligaments in her leg after a recent fall.
