Bushlands WI on drive to recruit new members
Nora then gave members a report back on the 85th FWI Congress held recently at the Fernhill Hotel, Howick.

BUSHLANDS Women’s Institute president Nora Brown thanked everyone for attending the meeting on Thursday, 3 October.
She said she was delighted to welcome back Hazel Caldwell and Lynn Rudolph. It was almost a full house with the expectation of Marie Brown, who unfortunately was not well.
Unity was sung. Nora then gave members a report-back on the 85th FWI Congress held recently at the Fernhill Hotel, Howick.
The main thrust of the Congress was the need to attract more members, so any women out there who would like to join an informative, caring group of women are more than welcome.
Bushlands holds its meetings on the first Thursday of the month at the Bluff Bowling Club at 2pm. The incoming FWI President theme for her term of office is ‘making a difference’ so join WI and make this possible. All resolutions tabled at Congress were adopted, the one on rape being amended to read that rapists should not have the option of bail.
Angela Croucamp was the only birthday girl celebrating at the meeting on 3 October. All sang ‘happy birthday’ to her.
At the round robin, L Rudolph said what a wonderful birthday present she had received in the unexpected arrival of her son on the Friday before her birthday. Y Lane spoke about a wonderful book she had just read entitled ‘The Life of Linda Kemp’ and highly recommended this to members. She also praised Sarie Rowlands, who spoke at a recent WI meeting, saying how talented she was.
Yvonne Munro reported that her sister and brother-in-law were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on 9 October, surely a milestone.
The raffle prizes went to Lynn Rundolph and June Young.

Note there will be no ordinary meeting in November. Members will meet at L Bootes’ home on 8 November for a bring and share Christmas party from 1.30pm until 2pm.
