Gericke takes the reins at Wentworth BC
Retiring president John Somerville passed over the reins to Willie Gerricke and his vice president Hilton Lassak.

AT a well-attended Wentworth Bowling Club AGM attended by about 70% of club members, retiring president John Somerville passed over the reins to Willie Gerricke and his vice president Hilton Lassak.
Other office bearers and the executive remains largely unchanged and will comprise Gwen Tait who remains as treasurer, John Somerville as secretary, Rodney Smith as competition secretary (men), Ellen Loots as women’s competition secretary, and Rovin de Goveia who will continue to look after the greens.
The competition selection committee will be (men’s) Frank Greyvenstein, Dave le Roux, Terry Micholson and Herbie Roux and for the women, Eileen du Plessis, Cora Van der Westhuizen, Maria Cavenagh and Gwen Tait.
The greens have undergone extensive renovations and it is anticipated they will be ready for the popular Friday morning game but players are advised to phone on Thursday to confirm that they are open again.
The kitchen is under new management and is open seven days a week with great food and good prices. The club wishes them well.
While club competitions have been delayed due to the extensive green renovations, it is hoped that these can be completed over the next few weeks. Entries for the major 74th anniversary competition of the club held on 23 and 24 November is now full and with prizes totalling more than R20,000, it has attracted many top teams. All are invited to go down and enjoy the weekend and see some really good bowls.
