Bluff BC regains Bo Eliovson trophy

Sunday saw the Lilah Nel any pairs competition being played.

THE annual challenge match between the Bluff and Wentworth bowling clubs for the Bo Eliovson trophy took place this past Saturday afternoon at Bluff Bowling Club.

It was a tightly contested affair with the Bluff teams edging it in the final game. With the match evenly poised after the Bluff teams skipped by Gary Moffat and Robbie Johnston defeated the Wentworth teams of Ben Newton and Peter Dingley respectively, the converse of the Wentworth teams skipped by Dave Le Roux and John Sommervilles’ victories over Dudley Dorrofield and Steve Bakers sides meant the contest was locked at four points apiece.

In the final match, the Bluff’s side skipped by Clinton Bisset against Wentworth’s Rod Smith side won by a shot in the last end to secure a six point to four victory for the home side, to continue the trend of home team wins in this event. Next year’s event will be held at Wentworth and they will be hoping the trend continues.
