One apiece for greens staff in tourney

ONLY one domestic match was played over the weekend at Woodlands Bowling Club, where Anthony Smith cruised in against a forfeited John Campbell 21-14.

Johannes and Wellington represented Woodlands at the annual greens staff competition played at Durban Collegians on Sunday, 17 November, where they won one game and lost one.

A braai afterwards was enjoyed by all.

Congratulations must go to the greens team who have kept the greens in magnificent condition throughout the year without once having to close for maintenance.

Gary Peace, Keith Huges and Bux Swanepoel scooped the meat in Friday night’s draw and Jason Burger enhanced the snowball pool by his absence once again in the lotto jackpot was carried over and stands at R1,078 but Dennis Tarboton, John Campbell and Carole Lauderdale shared the bonus pool. JP Wessels threw a cherry with the last dart in Friday’s darts competition to relegate Paul Conlon to second place. Arlene ‘the caddie’ Leuchar’s name emerged first in the Saturday swindle to choose the fillet steak.

Other winners being Glen de Wildt, Carole Lauderdale, Dennis Tarboton, Rosa Vincent, Greg Berry, Keith Huges (2) and Dave Leuchars.

Get well soon wishes from all at the club go to Cynthis McFarlane, Theuns Coetzee and Carol Tarboton’s mum who are out of sorts at the moment. Koos van Poggenpoel once again won the national lottery bonus number draw.

Andy Carstens came second in his bowls/fishing tournament, so maybe the club will see him on the greens sometime.

The annual bowls prizegiving takes place on Saturday, 23 November in whites at 1.30pm. All bowlers are to bring a plate of snacks.
