Arthur’s late-stage comeback fails to clinch men’s drawn pairs
The two domestic club matches were played on Saturday, 30 December.

TWO domestic club matches were played on Saturday, 30 December at Woodlands Bowling Club in what could only be described as the rephrased Bob Dylan number ‘bowling in the wind’.
The one match was actually a continuation of the rain-delayed men’s drawn pairs where Norman Moore and Anthony Smith trailed Arthur Carlyle by 20 shots to five after 11 ends and staged a spirited comeback to eventually go down 22-16.
In the other match, a first round of the men’s singles, Claude Newman drew away in the latter stages to beat Dave Vincent 21-11. Upcoming events are Linda Hewer open pairs on Wednesday, 4 December followed by the casual breakfast fours on Thursday, 5 December. To enter, call Linda on 082-724-6575 and Arthur on 076-588-7377.
Carole Lauderdale, Donald Durant and Derek Botha picked the right numbers for Friday night’s meat draw. E de la Peyre was not present to ensure the snowball pool increased for next Friday’s draw. The numbers 2-7-1 a bonus number a complete carryover for the lotto.
Being the last player to throw in the nominated darts competition, Neville Horner needed a cherry and produced the goods with his first dart to deny Rob de Wildt from claiming the spoils.
Dave Vincent’s name emerged first from the Saturday swindle barrel to choose the lamb chops.
The other winners were Keith Hughes, Stud, Dennis Holloway, Carole Lauderdale (2), Dennis Tarboton, Rosa Vincent and Trevor Hubbard.
Congratulations to Kat and Luke West on the addition of Ava-Rose who arrived on Sunday, 1 December to swell the nest.
Well done to Paul Colon on beating JP Wessels 4-0 in the final of the club pool championship. Chubbydale Greg Berry will be writing his wish list to Santa this week and swears that he has been a good boy all year.
If the old man in red believes that, the next thing pigs will fly. In the near future he will also be attending special classes on how to park cars straight and not in hedges. Stud is all puffed up on being voted top technician of the year with Gordon once again receiving the grumpy award.
