THE January breakfast shirts and skirts was played on Sunday, 26 January at Woodlands Bowling Club, with 14 teams taking to the greens.

The first and second sessions went the way of Eric Smit, Archie Fischer, Lofty Cawthorne and Anne Smit on +26 and Gloria Rice, Anoy Cloete and Carol Growe on +11 respectively.
Three 60/40 boards were drawn, making a good day for Arnie and Rina who snaffled the lion’s share on two boards, with Robbie Carr winning the other board. The minor dividends were pocketed by Dave Lloyd, Russell Shepherd and Jeff Bolt. John Yunnie will be roasting the pork.
The drawn consolation chocolates sweetened the tooth of Chris Klopper skip, Dave Jordaan third, Dave Vincent second, and Ronnie Hook lead.
Only two domestic matches were played on Saturday, 25 January with Rina Harper accounting for Rosa Vincent 105-45 in the women’s round robin point singles. Despite conceding an 8, Norman Moore, Dave Lloyd and Dennis Holloway beat Arthur Carlyle, Dave Vincent and Anthony Smit 19-1 in the men’s drawn trips.
Dates to diarise: On Wednesday, 5 February is the casual open pairs and Thursday, 6 February will be the casual open breakfast fours.
Abie Joubert, Dawn Moore and Stan McNamara won Friday nights meat draw while E Meredith boosted the snowball pool by not being present. Carole Launderdale selected the the chops in Saturday’s swindle with the other winners being Lyndon Smith, Trevor Du Plessis, Chubbydale, Dennis Tarboton, Lesley Morrison times two, George Moore and Keith Hughes. Thersesa Conlan won the National Lotto Bonus number draw.
