John and Val climb on the Bluff BC perch

Members are to note that there will be a fun evening of carpet bowls on Friday, 14 March.

JOHN Somerville and Val Herbert knocked Dave LeRoux and Daphne Reinhardt off the perch this past Sunday at Bluff Bowling Club, when they won overall first prize in the Bell any pairs competition on a score of 4+23.

The first session went to Colin Nicholas and Ken Koch on a 2+11.

The second session was won by on a 2+19. There were two 50/50 boards drawn and they were won by Glynis Macrory and Ron Addinal and the roast raffle was taken home by Kurt Spack.

There were two whiskey raffles held over the weekend and the winners, Norman Robinson and Gary Moffat, donated them back to the club to be put in the hamper for the annual men’s fours being held next weekend.

The club thanks all those who have donated towards the hamper.

On Saturday the men’s league commenced and unfortunately got off to a bad start as the A side went down 7-0 to Hillcrest, while the B side lost 5-0 to Durban.

There were three women’s trips matches played in which Janice Rodgers,Vicky Williams and Paula Osman defeated Sarie Bisset, Elize Stapelberg and Ronel Morel, while June Foster, Mari Mackenzie and Dawn Spack beat Phyllis Maritz, Jean Fraser and Patricia Buys and in the other game, Daphne Reinhardt, Lilah Nel and Chrissie Smith lost to Glynnis Macrory, Bridget White and Jay Retief.
