Men’s interclub bowling league gets underway
The R500 snowball will escalate to R600 next week as Garth Dreyer was not present.

LAST weekend round one of the men’s interclub league took place throughout the district, as the eight divisions of the league involving 684 players confronted each other either at their own venues, or that of the opponent.
In Wanderers Bowling Club’s case, their A, B, D and E sides all played at home, with only the C side playing Hillary away.
The results were surprising and varied. The A side, playing Westville B managed to garner five points thanks to wins by Richard’s team (five shots) as well as Lofty and co, who came back from a long way down to finish three shots to the good thus securing the bonus point in spite of Dennis going down by three shots.
Both B side teams, skipped by Arnie and Steve lost by a mere two shots to Sherwood who would have been pleased to bag a full house in the first round. The C side, however, got the better of Hillary and Andy’s side won by three, Eric K securing a much better 13 shot victory, gathering a full house away. D side’s Chris P won well by 14 shots in spite of his third, Errol Pienaar not pitching up for play without so much as a phone call to anyone, against Chatsworth but Peter T lost by 15 – the bonus point thus going to the visitors.
Our E side went down without a single point to our sister club Woodlands, Ken K going down by six shots, and Greg by a narrow two points.
Members are reminded to enter your name on the lists for club competitions. The mixed drawn trips is carded to get going on Saturday, 15 March. We need more women to enter this event to make it viable. The entry form is among the men’s events on a multiple entry form. The night league continues on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The various meat winners last Friday were: Mutton pack, chicken pack, Lamb Chops Jeff Bolt (a good run for Jeff); rump steak Russell Knott; pork ribs Norman Bester; chicken Des Demmer.
The R500 snowball will escalate to R600 next week as Garth Dreyer was not present. Monthly bowls R50 draw: Ray Smolas R750, Anthony Carr R500, Allan Bower R250.
