Good start to PN men’s midweek league for Bluff BC
First session was won by Alex Fisher.

IT was a busy week at Bluff Bowling Club where on Wednesday, the Port Natal men’s midweek league started.
Bluff BC had one team playing at home and one team away.
Both teams won, which was a good start to the league. On Thursday, the Brian Zutek was held, with 20 teams participating. A number of teams were not available this month due to a clash of commitments, but they promised to play in next month’s event which will be held on 17 April. The winners were Tom and Maria Cavanagh from Wentworth BC. First session was won by Alex Fisher and the second session by Gary Moffat and Johann Nel. The drawn prizes went to Brian Osman and Dave McCann. The board was won by Spider Williams and the meat raffle by June Foster.
With Friday, 21 March being a public holiday, a fun day was organised by Dudley Dorrofield, which was very well supported with 32 players taking to the greens, many for the first time. One of the local estates agents made a day of it and even brought a jumping castle with them to keep all the children occupied while they tested their bowling ability. Two of the staff were in the winning side.
On Saturday it was the second round of the Port Natal mens’ league. The A side playing away to Hillary lost 7-0 and the B side playing at home to Firwood won 5-0.
Two women’s competitions were played, the one being the women’s fours final. Sarie Bisset, Elize Stapelberg, Dawn Spack and Jay Retief beat June Foster, Bridget White, Phylis Maritz and Ronel Morel. The other match was a singles match which was closely fought between Chrissie Smith and Mari McKenzie, with Chrissie winning in the end.
Two teams travelled to Bergville this weekend and the team of Gary Moffat, Jorge Santos, Joe Brown and Wayne Tonkin came second while the other side made lots of friends.
Men’s league continues next week so check the board before Saturday. The Port Natal mixed pairs draw is out so if you entered, check the notice board as the first round is on 6 July.
