Wentworth bowling teams prevail in sponsored tourney

The sportsmen's prize was taken by Maria Cavanagh, Dave McCann and Stan McKenzie on 6 (plus or minus unknown).

ON Thursday, Wentworth Bowling Club had two sides play in the Kingdom Slots sponsored day at Stella Park Bowling Club and was pleased to report that its team consisting of Hilton, Ina, Reggie from Stella and Robin narrowly won with a four plus 32. This means Wentworth BC will host the next Kingdom Slots bowls tournament next year.

In Friday’s men’s casual bowls, first prize went to Keith Wild, Ina Davies and Smiler Wilesmith on plus 23, while runners-up were Brendan Davies and Tom Cloete on plus nine. The sportsmen’s prize was taken by Maria Cavanagh, Dave McCann and Stan McKenzie on 6 (plus or minus unknown). The pork raffle was won by Smiler Wilesmith with number 35. First draw on the 60/40 board was won by Ken Koch with number 69, second draw was won by Graham Bransby with number 30. These guys just seem to keep picking the right numbers and should play the lotto.

Other results for the week were the league sides which were both successful. The A side beat Toti 5/2 and B side defeated Chatsworth by 3/2 – well done to all. The next league games are this Saturday, 29 March. Check the board for details and selections.

The Grace Hare mixed trips final was played on Sunday and eventual winners were Hilton Lassak, Ina Davies and Robin de Gouveia who beat Oom Dirk Venter, Eileen and Jonny du Plessis by 24 shots to 13. Everyone played well despite the heat and the score line does not reflect how close the game was.

Finally the second draw for the booze hamper took place on Sunday afternoon and the winner was Val Herbert with number three.
