Ken and Ellen are overall winners of open pairs
The club would like to wish Jumbo Nel a speedy recovery after his time spent in hospital.

IT was nice to see ‘old’ friends and visitors join us to play bowls at Woodlands Bowling Club.
On Wednesday, the club hosted the open pairs with 16 teams entered. Results: First session was won by Barry Mansfield and Awongiwe Sandile, second session went to sisters Colleen Blenner-Hassett and Daphne Els and the overall winners were Ken Koch and Ellen Loots.
Robbie Carr won the R40 and visitor Kurt Spack won the R20. The meat raffle was won by Ken Koch and the drawn prizes went to Keith Wild, Johan Nel, Gwen Tait and Sonia Moore. It was nice to see John Summerville and Ellen Loots back on the greens after both were hospitalised. The club would like to wish Jumbo Nel a speedy recovery after his time spent in hospital.
On Thursday, the club hosted the casual four’s breakfast. First session went to Terry Micholson, Val McCaffery, Herbie Roux and Norman Moore on a +8, the second session was won by Kieth Wild, William Richardson, Dave Mc Cann and Johan Nel on a +15 and overall winners were Dudley Dorrofield, Tony Hoggins, Dave Rowe and Brian Osman on +16.
The meat was won by Keith Wild. The R40 went to Ellen Loots and Dudley Dorrofield and the R20 to Ken Koch and Rina Harper. Drawn prizes went to Denis Gerricke, Kim Hawkin, John Yunnie and Ellen Loots. Denis Gerricke is thanked for playing taxi bright and early on Thursday and picking up the two women who help to cook in the kitchen.
Woodlands is proud to announce that we have one women’s and one men’s team playing in the Dan Draper tournament. Good luck to all players.
On Friday night the meat draw was won by Mike McFarland, Derek Botha and Laura du Pouy. The snowball was shared by Glen Morris and Dennis Tarboton. The swindle went to Keith Hughes twice, Abie Joubert, Greg Berry, Dennis Tarboton twice, Marc Jenkins, Stan Mc Namara and Ralph (I never win anything) Mostert. The lotto bonus ball went to George Moore.
On Saturday afternoon, the men’s singles semi-final was played between Bill Hewer and Andy Cloete with Bill going through to the finals and the nominated mixed pairs being played between Ralph Mostert and Rina Harper against Arthur Carlyle and Daphne Els with Arthur and Daphne going through to the next round.
