Woodlands women’s drawn pairs produces humdinger tussle

The club sends “Get Well” wishes to long standing member Louis Holtzhausen.

ON Wednesday morning, Woodlands Bowling Club played the mixed pairs competition.

Norman Moore and Lynn Carlyle beat Bill and Linda Hewer to go onto the next round.

On Saturday there were a few competitions played. The final of the women’s drawn pairs was played. Gloria Rice and Lynn Carlyle beat Rina Harper and Daphne Els. What a game. At tea time Gloria and Lynn were up 15-5 and after tea, they never scored again until the second last end where they snuffed the title by 16-15. Well done.

In the men’s drawn pairs, Ralph Mostert and John Campbell beat David Lloyd and Bryce Bower 18-15. Bill Hewer and Norman Moore were fighting it out for the men’s singles championship and Norman came out the victor 19 – 16. Well done to all who played. The club sends “Get Well” wishes to long standing member Louis Holtzhausen. It’s been a while since Louis has been seen at the club and look forward to seeing him back there again soon.

In the main club, draw results are as follows: The meat draw was won by Dixi, George Moore and Buks Swanepoel, while the snowball is another carry-over as Tommy Simpkins wasn’t there to grab the winnings. The swindle raffle went to George Moore (twice), Carole Lauderdale, Merle Hughes, Dennis Tarboton, Dixi, Cobus Janse van Vuuren and Loraine Jenkins. The wine raffle was won by Cobus Janse van Vuuren and the Lotto bonus ball went to Gordon Tarboton.
