Ina on a winning streak at WBC

60/40 board went to Ellen Loots and Rick Blann.

Wentworth Bowling Club (WBC) had a very busy week.

The Howe’s Ur Fatha played on Wednesday, 23 July saw first session prize taken by Dirk Venter and Cora van der Westhuizen with + 11, second session was won by Colin Coetzee and Shaun Sutherland with + 11.

The overall winners were Julie Sutherland and Amanda with 4 + 13.

Maria Cavanagh and Ina Davies won the 60/40 board, and Steve Baker is drinking the whisky while Brian Osmand is cooking the meat. The next Howe’s Ur Fatha will be on 27 August.

Family and friends fun bowls was played on Wednesday, 23 July.

The prize went to John Somerville and Rick Blann and the 60/40 board went to Ellen Loots and Rick Blann.

In the Rawsons breakfast pairs played on Thursday, 24 July, first prize went to Paul and Bridget White with Lilah Nel 4+ 27. Second prize was taken by John Somerville, Terry Micholson and Ellen Loots with 4 + 21 and the second session went to Wayne Smith, Spider Williams and Robin De Gouveia with + 22. Paul, Bridget and Lilah won the perch. Well done.

Garry Moffat is having the whisky on the winnings, Janine Jansen is roasting the pork and Dave Matthew doing the beef roast. The first 60/40 board was won by Maria Cavanagh and Steve Baker and the second board was taken by Allan Ritchie and Kitty Schaeffer.

In the men’s Friday casual bowls played on 25 July, first prize was taken by Graham Bransby, Eric Miller and Smiler Wilesmith with + 13. Second prize went to Gregg McGuinness, Keith Wild and Johan Nel with +11. Mike Berry, Dave McCann and Dave Vincent took the sportsman prize. Robin DeGouveia is roasting the pork and Graham Bransby is cooking the beef. The first 60/40 board was won by Kurt Spack and Andy Cloete and the second board went to Rosa Vincent and Gerald Castor Royle.

Big Jim played on Sunday, 27 July resulted in Greg Dorrofield and Jorge Santos being overall winners with 4 + 21. First session was taken by lovely couple Johhny and Eilleen du Plessis with 2 + 23 and second session went to another stunning couple Kurt and Dawn Spack with 2 + 23. The first 60/40 board was won by Dave Rowe and Kurt Spack and the second board was taken by none other than lucky Ina Davies. Ina is also roasting the meat on all her winnings and Jorge Santos is having the whisky. Well done all. The next Big Jim will be on 24 August.

Wentworth BC wishes Cora van der Westhuizen all the best in playing the Champs of Champions at Northlands on Saturday and Luvuyo, who is also playing Champ of Champions at Lahee Park on Saturday. Support these players.

Condolences to Frank Greyvenstein and family on the loss of his mother. The club’s thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thoughts and prayers are still with Val Herbert who is in hospital. She is wished a speedy recovery.

Events for the next week: Wednesday, 30 July at 3pm is family and friends fun bowls, and all new bowlers are welcome. Take along flat soled shoes. Bowls are available.

Friday, 25 July at 9am is men’s casual bowls.

The kitchen is open daily Tuesdays to Sundays from 8am to 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Tuesdays at 12.30pm, pensioners can enjoy scones with strawberry jam and cream with their tea. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644. The club has a big screen TV for all sports fanatics.
