Bokka, Stan rake in Wentworth BC fun bowls spoils
Thoughts and prayers are still with Val Herbert who is in hospital again.
WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a quite week.
Results for the family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 6 August saw the prize go to Bokka van der Westhuizen and Stan McKenzie.
Sportsman’s prize was taken by Frank Greyvenstein, Kurt Spack and Zoe Dougal and the 60/40 board went to Ellen Loots and Spider Williams.
Results for the men’s Friday casual bowls played on 8 August: First prize was taken by Dirk Venter, Brian Deats and Robin DeGouveia with + 20. Second prize went to Graham Bransby, Brian Holliss and Neil Smith with +18. Mike Berry, Buck Boetiger and Henry Welgemoed took the sportsman’s prize.
Mouse Ratcliff is roasting the pork and Eric Miller is cooking the beef. The 60/40 board was won by Bill Addinall and Mouse Ratcliff. The barlady Krystal won the whisky. Congratulations to Eilleen du Plessis and Cora van der Westhuizen who won the women’s club nominated pairs.
Thoughts and prayers are still with Val Herbert who is in hospital again, everyone wishes her a speedy recovery, and also speedy recovery to Linda Locker.
There is a potjiekos competition on 30 August, with a prize for the best dressed.
Events for the next week: Wednesday, 13 August family and friends fun bowls at 3pm, all new bowlers welcome. Take flat sole shoes, as bowls are available.
On Friday, 15 August it’s men’s casual bowls time at 9am. The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays to Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Tuesdays at 12.30pm, pensioners can enjoy scones with strawberry jam and cream with tea. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644. Big screen TV for all the sports fanatics.
