Weather wins as Big Jims bowls washed out

WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a good week with the following results:
In the family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 22 October, first prize went to Johnny du Plessis and Albert van Niekerk. Dirk Venter and Anne Bonthrone took the sportsman prize. The 60/40 board was won by Terry Micholson and Ina Davies.
In the Howes Ur Fatha played on Wednesday, 22 October, overall winners were Herby Hofmann and Eric Miller with 4 + 17. First session went to John Somerville and Colin Nicholas with + 12 and second session was taken by Dirk Venter and Cora van der Westhuizen. The 60/40 board was won by Cora van der Westhuizen and Ken Thomas. Shaun Sutherland won the beef raffle and John Somerville took the Kentucky Ham. The next Hows Ur Fatha will be on 26 November.
Bluff Meats men’s pensioners bowls played on Friday, 24 October saw first prize won by Ken Koch and Allan Moor with + 18. Second prize went to Herby Hofmann, Dave Mathews and Stan McKenzie with + 10. The sportsman prize was won by Colin Howes and Dave McCann. The meat raffle was won by Steve Evenwell. The 1st 60/40 board was won by Tomcat Cavanagh and Smiler Wilesmith and the second board went to lucky ‘Tomcat Cavanagh’ and Ina Davies.
In the Big Jim on Sunday, 26 October, due to weather conditions there was no bowls played. The 1st 60/40 board was won by Kitty Schaeffer and Robin DeGouveia and the second board went to Deon Maritz and Dawn Spack. The lamb raffle went to Kitty Schaeffer, the whisky was won by Rosa Vincent and Brian Osmond took the pork raffle. The next Big Jim will take place on 30 November.

On Thursday, 30 October, it’s the Rawsons breakfast trips at 9am.
Friday, 31 October sees the Bluff Meats men’s pensioners bowls played at 9am. On Sunday, 2 November, the chicken run starts at 9am.
The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays until Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Call Ina Davies 082-768-4644.
