Arnie makes it two finals in club comp pairs
Last Friday’s snowball of R600 was not won as Val Hussey was not present.

TWO semi finals of club comps were played at Wanderers Bowling Club during the week.
In the first, Arnie Harper and Bill Addinall made it into the finals of the men’s drawn pairs when they beat Steve Van Rooyen and Johan Nel 20-18.
They will now face Kim Hawkins and Mike Flack in the finals next weekend. The second match was the drawn mixed pairs in which Mike and Jackie Freeman beat Steve Van Rooyen and Barbara Neill 24-8 with four ends to spare. They will now face Arnie Harper and Heather Beselaar in that final. That’s two finals for Arnie Harper.
Wednesday’s roadrunner pairs attracted 14 teams and thanks to a sponsorship, each player received a two litre bottle of Coke in true Christmas spirit. Joan Bruce (R40) and Eric Smit (R20) shared the 60/40 board spoils and Dennis Gericke won the meat raffle. Lucky PJ Sparks chose the correct lotto numbers of 3-5-9 to scoop the current jackpot of in excess of R300. First session winners with a 2+19 went to Eric Smit and Bob Hayward, while visitors Kurt and Dawn Spack claimed the second session with 2+17. In second place overall with 4+18 were Chris Pozyn and Robbie Carr who were pipped by a single shot by the day’s overall winners, George Harris and Ken Thomas.
Sunday’s breakfast trips attracted a good field of 28 teams. Thanks must go the various sponsors for their contributions, not least of which was Earth Electric for their generous sponsorship. The enlarged R5 special 60/40 board winners were Jackie Freeman and Steve E (R50 each), Jeff Bolt R50 pork pack and David Lloyd R60 pork pack.
Sportsman’s prize went to Nicola Bauristhene, Pierre Langlois and Debbie Nortje with a 0-2. Bob Hayward, Jeff Bolt and Jo-Anne Jordaan won the first session with 2+8. Ben Newton, Ken Koch and Ron Gillespie took second session with a 2+16. Second place winners on a count out were Norman Moore, Colin Nicholas and Phil Pieterse with a 4+17, and the overall winners on 4+20 were Dennis Gericke, Dave and Joe McNamara. After prize giving, players and socialites enjoyed listening to the sounds of brilliant guitarist and singer, Arthur Fannan.
