Turkeys, gammons seal Bluff BC’s festive bowls fun

The Acutts any pairs was the prelude to 2015 with 20 teams braving the hot conditions.

THE Brian and Paula Osman Zutek any pairs was played on 18 December and despite a clash of dates, 16 teams contested the Christmas fare on offer.

Alex Fisher and Tony Hoggins came up trumps to roast the winning turkeys for Noel with 4+20.

The first and second session winners were Gary Moffat and Bob Hayward on 2+12 and Ken Thomas on 2+13 respectively.

A competition was run throughout the year with points awarded for every month played and won. It was a close run affair with Johan Nel winning the turkey by one point. The drawn chocolates went the way of skip Kris Klopper and lead Spider Williams.

Three days later, the diving bell any pairs which took place with 22 teams, closed out the bowling for the year. Again Christmas was on the winning roster with Clinton Bisset and Jorge Santos on 4+21 scampering away with the gammons. Sarie Bisset and Daphne Reinhardt were past the post to win the first session on 2+13 and Ken Koch and Alex Fisher picked up the second session on 2+12.

The mystery drawn rink victors for the second session went to Dave and Rosa Vincent by two shots.

The Acutts any pairs was the prelude to 2015 with 20 teams braving the hot conditions. With the perch sitting at R2,350, current roosters Clinton Bisset and Jorge Santos had all eyes keenly posted on their progress and they managed to win their first and second sessions with a very competitive 4+18. However Gary Moffat and Deon Maritz cracked the whip and cruised in with a 4+24 to annex the top spot and occupy the perch for February. Noel Morel and Glynis Mackrory on 2+12 along with Andy Cloete and Margaret Walters on 2+13 inflicted the worst on their opponents to win first and second sessions respectively.

Joege Santos will be roasting the pork and Maria Cavanagh snaffled the whiskey raffle while Andy Cloete claimed the 50/50 board.
