Work party assembles at Wentworth BC

The 60/40 board was won by Phill Hill and Dave Carroll.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club’s Tuesday men’s pensioners was played on 10 February with Terry Micholson, Keith Wild and Eric Miller taking first place and Colin Howes, Buck Boettiger and Johan Nel in second place.

The 60/40 board was won by Brian Smith and Terry Micholson.

The family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 11 February saw first prize go to Tony Fourie and Johan Vorster and sportsman prize won by Terry Micholson and Phill Hill. The 60/40 board was won by Phill Hill and Dave Carroll.

In the Bluff Meats men’s pensioners played on Friday, 13 February, first prize went to Mike Berry, Derek Stevens and Ben Els with + 11, while second prize was taken by Colin Nicholas, Robin De Gouveia and Stan McKenzie with + 9. Norman Moore, Dave McCann and Smiler Wilesmith took away the sportsman prize. The first 60/40 board was won by Dave Carroll and Flo Harper and the second board went to Robin De Gouveia and Kurt Spack. Tomcat Cavanagh who is collecting the roasts, won the pork roast, and Kurt Spack took the beef roast for Dawn to cook.

A reminder for Saturday, 21 February when the club open singles finals take place at 1pm. There will also be a work party on Saturday at 8am. All who are willing to help scrape, paint and do general maintenance on the front of the clubhouse, please bring scrapers, paint brushes and rollers if you have any. There will be free potjiekos for all workers afterwards.

There will be chicken run on Sunday 22 February, come and catch your chicken for tasty chicken curry.

Congrats to Bokka van der Westhuizen who had his birthday on Friday, 13 February, to Ellen Loots on 17 February and Jumbo Nel on 20 February. The club wishes them all lots of happy bowling years to come.

Events for the next week: Tuesady, 17 February South Coast mens pensioners at 9am. On Wednesday, 18 February Family and Friends fun bowls at 3pm. Friday, 20 February Bluff Meats mens pensioners bowls at 9am.

On Saturday, 21 February mens and womens finals in clubs open singles at 1pm, come and support the bowlers.

Sunday, 22 February Chicken Run for all those not attending any other games at 9am, come catch your chick.

The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays – Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644. Big screen TV for all the sports fanatics.
