Woodlands Bowling Club bows out of Champions
On Friday, 24 July, the club meat draw was won by Cobus Janse Van Vuuren, second was Lyndon Smith and third was Keith Hughes.

WEDNESDAY was the any pairs competition at Woodlands Bowling Club (WBC).
First session winners were Terry Micholson and John Somerville on 2+20.
Second session was won by Dennis Gerricke and Ken Thomas on 2+5 and overall winners were Norman Moore and Doug Moore (not related) on 4+13.
Dawn Spack snapped up the R40 and Sonia Moore the R20 money board. Kurt Spack won the meat raffle. The drawn prizes were: Skips Gloria Rice and Colleen Blenner-Hassett and leads Sonia Moore and Eileen du Plessis.
On Thursday, the casual fours breakfast was played. Overall winners were Rina Harper, Norman Moore, Linda Hewer and Andy Cloete on 4+13. First session winners were Ken Thomas, Joe McNamara, Johan Nel and Derek Stevens on 2+7 and the second session winners were Arnie Harper, Rob Carr, Alan Bower and Brian on 2+9.
Bill Hewer won the meat raffle. Linda Hewer and Chris Klopper grabbed the R40 with John Somerville and Arthur Carlyle took the R20 money board. The drawn prizes went to Brian Osman, John Somerville, Dawn Spack and Ken Koch. There was no winner for the Lotto so it is a carry over.
With last week’s rainy weather, there was no bowls on Saturday, 1 August at WBC. The Shirts and Skirts on Sunday also had to be cancelled due to soggy greens.

The swindle was won by Derrick Botha, Peter and Bev Jenkins, Trevor Hubbard (twice), Andy and Sandra Cox, Keith Jenkins, Dennis Tarboton, Raymond Smolas and Gordon Tarboton.
On Saturday, 1 August Gloria Rice and Andy Cloete played in the Champion of Champions competition as the women and men’s champions for Woodlands. Unfortunately both lost their first games so were out for the rest of the competition.
On Saturday Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle played the points singles with Rina the victor, on a score of 103 and Lynn 97. The men’s drawn pairs was played between Arthur Carlyle and Holloway and Ralph Mostert and David Lloyd with Ralph and David winning on a score of 28-8.
On Friday night, the club meat draw was won by Kassie Koen and second and third was won by Carole Lauderdale. The snowball was a carry over as E Meredith was not present.
The swindle was won by A Carsten (twice), Dennis Tarboton, Keith and Lorraine Jenkins (twice), Gordon Tarboton, Cobus Janse Van Vuuren, Dave Leuchar and Maria Berry.
