Bluff women advance in PN pairs

A BUSY weekend for Bluff Bowling Club started on Friday, 4 September when the monthly 3-2-1 killer was held, sponsored by club members June Foster and Eddie Human.
There was a good turn-out and first session went to Nolen Openshaw and Herby Roux.
Second session was won by Brian Osman and Brian Britten, while overall winners were Gary Moffat and George Harris. Most touchers was won by Steve Evenwell on a huge 13. The roast was won by Colin Nicholas, the board by Cynthia Addinal and the sportsman prize by Herbie Hoffman and Ron Parsonage.
Club competitions played on Saturday saw Elise Stapelberg and Jay Retief win the finals of the nominated pairs against Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel. In the other women’s game Daphne Reinhardt beat Phyllis Maritz in the points singles. There were two men’s competitions played. In the men’s nominated pairs, Clinton Bisset and Deon Maritz beat Dudley Dorrofield and Dave Lavis and in the other game, Robert Mhlongo and Noel Morel beat Eddie Human and Deon Els.
The Port Natal pairs started on Sunday and the women put Bluff’s men to shame. Out of seven men’s sides only Clinton Bisset and Deon Maritz made it through to the next round. The women fared much better – of the four sides entered, three sides went through to the next round which will be played at Durban Wanderers who are the sponsors of this tournament. Bluff BC’s three winners were Bridget White, Glynis Mackrory, Elize Stapelberg, Jay Retief, Lilah Nel and Ronel Morel. The club wishes them good bowling on Saturday.

Sunday sees the mixed drawn pairs where Dave le Roux and Bridget White will come up against Lilah Nel and Harvey Simpkin. The other game is Sarie Bisset and Noel Morel against Eddie Human and Paula Osman. In the mixed drawn trips, Robert Mhlongo, Kurt Spack and Jay Retief play against Spider Williams, Ronel Morel and Dawn Spack. The other game is between Gary Moffat, Brian Osman and Kitty Schafer against Eddie Human, Noel Morel and Patricia Buys. These games are subject to the results of the Port Natal pairs.
