WEDNESDAY morning’s Chicken Shack pairs once again saw Gary Moffatt and Lilah Nel stamp their supremacy on the Wentworth Bowling Club bowling greens.

Building up a convincing lead of four plus 22, they walked away with the sponsored first prize.

Bill Addinall and Dave Carroll were awarded the second place prize with a four plus 10. The second session prize went the way of Allan Bower and Brian Brittain.

Andy Cloete won the first prize on the board draw and Ina Davies pocketed the second prize. Gerald Castor Royle happily tucked the raffled pork roast under his arm as he left.

In the afternoon the regular family and friends development bowls was played. Bokka van der Westerhuizen, playing with ‘newbie’ Storm Neethling bowled his way into first place. Frank Greyenstein and Dudley Saunders had to be satisfied with the biscuits for their efforts. John Somerville and Hennie Marais were the winners of the 60/40 board draw.

Festivities are anticipated after this week’s development boards as the bowlers enjoy their monthly post-bowls braai. The big screen will be up in support of the Springboks as they play the USA in their last pool game of the World Cup 2015. The game starts at 5.45pm.

The community is encouraged to attend the family and friends development bowls every Wednesday afternoon. This is an opportunity for anyone interested in trying their hand at the game. It is played in a friendly spirit to encourage any interested ‘newbies’ to get involved in the sport. All are welcome. Play starts at 3pm.

The second semi-final of the Grace Hare trips was played on Saturday afternoon. This saw Terry Michelson, Brian Smith and Cheryl Waterman win their way to a place in the final against John Somerville, Dave Carroll and Ellen Loots.

With the advent of the AGM, the current committee is working towards closure in terms of the year’s competitions. Members are asked to check the notice board regularly to assist in a speedy conclusion.
