IT was a busy weekend at Woodlands Bowling Club.
Despite windy conditions, the club championships continued with two games of mixed drawn trips played on Saturday afternoon.
With only one point difference Norman Moore, Arthur Carlyle and Daphne Els beat Rina Harper, Brian Kimber and Andy Cloete on 17-16. The other trips game was played between Gloria Rice, Ralph Mostert, and Denis Holloway and Colleen Blenner-Hassett, Alan Bower and Dave Lloyd with Colleen and her team the victors on 21-12. Well done to all teams for playing in such difficult conditions.
On Sunday also in windy and very hot conditions, the club hosted the shirts and skirts pairs competition sponsored by Steadfast Insurance Brokers. What a wonderful turn-out. The first overall winners were Alan Bower and Joanne Jordaan on 4+24 and they now sit on the ‘perch’. The second overall winners were Eric Smit and Bob Hayward on 4+14. First session winners were Richard Hendicott and Chris Klopper on 2+7 and 2nd session went to Arnie and Rina Harper on 2+7.
Terry Brown snagged the meat raffle with Chris Samuel and Bryce Bower each taking home R40 and Lindi Samuel and Tom Cloete took the R20 money board. The drawn prizes went to skips Wonki and Phil Pietersen and the leads Lynn Carlyle and Derek Stevens.
The club welcomes back Tom Cloete and hopes he has a long and enjoyable time.
