Bluff AC ready to host annual vets half marathon
The management of the Bluff Athletic Club extends its appreciation to all residents for their co-operation.
BLUFF Athletics Club’s annual Bluff Vets Half Marathon will be run on Sunday, 15 November starting at 6am.
This race draws athletes from across the country to this beautiful suburb, so everyone should be prepared to not only welcome them but more importantly, to show the hospitality that can only be experienced on the Bluff.
The race starts at the Fynnland Combined Sports Club, 55 Smith Drive and proceeds down Smith Drive towards Lighthouse Road. At the intersection, athletes turn right and continue all the way along Lighthouse Road to the military base, past the entrance to the base and then along Marine Drive to Badhulla Road. At Badhulla Road they turn right and continue toward Tara Road at which point they turn right, proceeding to Gray’s Inn Road. Left into Gray’s Inn, past Oxford up to the traffic lights at Brighton Road. Left at these lights up to and past Thompson’s Tea Cafe, past the Wentworth Hotel and down Doon Road and the up the hill to Sure Spar. Once past Spar, there is a gentle descent taking athletes past the Bluff Medical Centre, along Lighthouse Road to Smith Drive, right at Smith Drive and into the finish zone at the Fynnland Combined Sports Club. Athletes will be escorted by officers from Metro Police as well as marshalls, who will be posted at all intersections.

Time trials take place every Thursday evening, starting at 5.45pm from the Fynnland Combined Sports Club, Smith Drive, Bluff. All are welcome.
Thursday, 5 November is braai evening so take along your meat. Fires are provided.
Members are reminded that the annual general meeting of the BAC will take place during the second week of December. The notice and agenda for the meeting will be forwarded in due course.
