John’s team claims casual pairs win

IT was a busy week at Woodlands Bowling Club, where in Wednesday’s hot and windy conditions, the any pairs competition was played.
First session winners were Herbie Roux and Derek Stevens on 2+11.
Second session went to brothers Tom and Andy Cloete on 2+12 and the overall winners were John Somerville and Terry Micholson on 4+21. Herbie Roux won the meat raffle with Andy Cloete taking the R40 and Ronnie Jackson the dregs of R20 on the money board. Drawn prizes went to skip Linda Hewer and Norman Moore and lead Debbie Nortje and Neville Horner.
On Thursday the casual pairs was played, also in hot and windy conditions. Overall winners were John Somerville, Brian Smith, Ken Kock and Ellen Loots on 4+4. First session winners were Arnie Harper, Arthur Carlyle and Brian Hollis on 2+19 and second session winners were Spider Williams, Dirk Venter, Robin de Gouveia and Anne Bonthrone on 2+19. Kurt Spack won the meat draw and John Somerville grabbed the R40, with Jo-Anne getting the dregs of R20 on the money board. The winners of the drawn prizes are skip – Ken Thomas, third – Bob Hayward, second – Linda Hewer and lead Claude Newman.
On Saturday the final of the men’s drawn fours was played between Harold Dix, Brian Kimber, Denis Holloway and Tom Cloete against Norman Moore, Arthur Carlyle, Andy Cloete and Eric Coetzee. Norman and his team were the victors with a score of 19-16.
