Roadrunner claims spoils at Wanderers BC

Sunday’s Fours skins fielded a somewhat depleted field of only 8 teams – several withdrawals coming in at the last moment.

By Bob Hayward

LAST Wednesday’s Wanderers Bowling Club Roadrunner’s pairs saw Roadrunner himself, Ronnie Jackson win the R40 and his wife Gerrie the R20 on the 60/40 board draw.

PJ Sparks won the meat raffle.

Lofty Cawthorne and his partner Dave Faifer won the second session with a 2+12, and the overall winners were Dennis Gericke and Andy Cloete with 4+14.

Nobody had the winning numbers for the lotto, so it was yet another carry over.

Only one club competition was played. That was between Eric Smit and Luke Van Rooyen who beat Chris Klopper and Bob Hayward 18-15 after getting a walkover from Terry Brown and Tommy Simpkins earlier in the day.

Sunday’s fours skins fielded a somewhat depleted field of only eight teams, after several withdrawals came in at the last moment. The sportsman’s prize went to Bob Hayward, Archie Fisher, Mal Hewer and Ken Koch with a 4-17. First session went the way of perch holders Richard Hendicott, Jeff Bolt, Tommy Simpkins and Russell Shepherd with 8+7 on a count out from Norman Moore’s team. Second session went to Clive Symons, Mike and Jackie Freeman and Jo-Anne Jordaan with 8+10. Kim, Nigel and Lorinne Hawkins with Claude Newman won the Spur meal vouchers by coming second with 17+9 and the overall winners were Stella Park visitors Dora Kruger, Dave Denbeigh, Ron Davids and Judy Green with the good score of 19+21. This puts them on the perch for R600 for the next event on 20 December.

John Campbell won the meat raffle and Richard Hendicott took both prizes on the 60/40 board.

Last Friday’s snowball of R800 was not won as Luke Van Rooyen was not present.

The various meat hamper winners were:

  • Lamb pack – Mitch Mitchley,
  • rolled beef – Mike Freeman,
  • pork roast – Ralph and Glynis Reineke,
  • rump steak – Graham Jeffs,
  • chicken pack and chicken pieces – Porky Hauptfleisch.
