One shot decides Woodlands nominated pairs winners

Lorinne Hawkins won the meat draw with Eric Smit snapping up the R40 and Gloria Rice the R20 money board.

ON Saturday afternoon, despite the wind and rain, Woodlands Bowling Club’s men came out to play the start of the 2016 championships.

Nominated pairs was played between Norman Moore and Dave Lloyd and Harold Dix and Eric Coetzee.

It was a neck and neck game with Norman and Dave winning by one shot 11-10.

The first round of men’s singles was played against two brothers, Andy Cloete and Tom Cloete. The victor was Andy with a winning score of 23-16. There was also a game of point singles played between Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle. Just before the heavens opened, Rina beat Lynn by 103-87.

What lovely weather on Sunday for the shirts and skirts pairs breakfast. The first overall winners winning on a shot average were Andy Cloete and Dave Lloyd on 4+15. Second overall winners were Norman Moore and Gloria Rice on 4+15. The first session winners were Myra and Christo Samuel on 2+15 and second session winners were Robbie Carr and Jeff Bolt on 2+6. Lorinne Hawkins won the meat draw with Eric Smit snapping up the R40 and Gloria Rice the R20 money board.

The drawn prizes went to skips Robin and Wonke and leads Rina Harper and Chris Klopper.

Again the ‘perch’ was not won and is now up to R300 for next month.
