Bluff BF women make mark on PN midweek league bowls
Thanks to Wentworth club for boosting the numbers at the DJ Lashrite tournament played on Sunday.

THERE were three Bluff Bowling Club teams of men and two teams of women entered into the Port Natal midweek league which started last Wednesday. Regretfully, only one women’s team was successful but it is only the start of this league so there is plenty of time to make up points.
This league will continue this coming week.
The club’s singles star, Bridget White, made it to the final of the Port Natal open singles event, where she came second. Well done on your achievement.
The monthly Diving Bell pairs was held on Thursday. First session was won by Gary and Bob and second session by veterans Tom and Maria. Overall winners were Tommy and Andy on a 4 + 22. This popular tournament is held on the third Thursday of every month. The club thanks the sponsor and the regular participants.
Club competitions held on Saturday involved the women playing open singles. Winners were Elize Stapelberg, Glynis Mackrory, Lilah Nel and Jay Retief. These women will play in future rounds. On behalf of these players, the club thanks the markers who gave up time to do this duty, however it must be pointed out that players who enter singles games are expected to do marking duty too.
Thanks to Wentworth club for boosting the numbers at the DJ Lashrite tournament played on Sunday. Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset won first session, Hilton Lassack and Craig Snap-On took the second session, while overall winners were Robbie Johnston and Noel Morel. The raffle was won by Terry Mickelson and Michael Schudel won the 50/50 board. This is a monthly pairs tournament, and the club is grateful to the sponsors for their ongoing support.
The Easter Friday morning corner to corner bowls was expected to take place on Friday morning. Results were not to hand at the time of going to print, due to the early deadline.
Also due to the Easter weekend, there were no club competitions played on Saturday.
Good bowling to the midweek league players. The club wishes a speedy recovery to its women competition secretary, Chrissie Smith.
